World Book Day Coming Soon

24th February 2016

This year, World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March 2016.

Due to a few other events that day at school, we will be celebrating it on Friday 4th March instead. We would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child will receive a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can either be exchanged for one of TEN special £1 World Book Day books or used to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 or more. You can find out more about the books at worldbookday.com/books.

To celebrate this event in school, we would like to encourage the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Teachers will be sharing their favourite children’s stories with the class and reading them (or extracts) over the course of the day. As well as this, children will have the opportunity to enter the ‘Design a National Book Token’ competition, with additional prizes for the best class entries.

Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous – we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate with your child.
