Each week in assembly, a Thought of the Week is written and shared by children in Y5.

This week’s thought of the week is about Stepping into the Unknown.

On Monday, we learnt about the Russian astronaut Alexi Leonov, who was the first person in history to do a spacewalk.

However, not everything went to plan. His space suit swelled up, he struggled to get through the airlock, and they landed off course in a freezing forest in Siberia.

Despite these problems, the spacewalk mission was still considered a great success. It took bravery, training, problem solving and the ability to keep cool.

Many of us will use these skills in life to undertake and accomplish difficult tasks and problems we face. So remember, in order to succeed, keep calm, be brave, be well prepared and most importantly enjoy what you do!
