After an emotional send off at school, we all arrived very excited for a fantastic week of adventure.
Everyone has settled in really well. All unpacked, fed, tutors met and ready for meet and greet disco. We're really lucky as always at Adventure International to have such brilliant tutors. This year we have Mair, Beth and Henry.
We're not expecting an early night, but one thing for certain is an early morning start with a run to kick off the day, come rain or shine.
Keep a look out at the end of each day for an update and photos.
Monday - Mountain Boarding and Canoeing
So the weather this year isn't as sunny yet the showers haven't dampened our spirits. Top effort for the run this morning to the beach followed by a hearty breakfast. A quick rest and then on to mountain boarding. Children and adults having a lot of fun (even with the odd tumble). After lunch, it was time to get a little wet as we canoed down the canal, playing games, ending in the inevitable water play!
It's great seeing everyone throwing themselves into activities and overcoming some fears. Tonight we have karaoke. We wonder if there might be a cameo performance from Miss Dymond! We know she likes a sing song. Though seeing the number of children on stage last night, we're expecting lots of ours to join in.
Tuesday - Climbing, Abseiling and High Ropes
Congratulations to Kieran for coming third in karaoke last night. Lots of our children took part and sang really well to an enthusiastic audience. We are all very proud of the children today for persevering and pushing themselves to the limit. The Cornish mizzle wasn't enough to deter our children from having a fantastic day. Many overcame fears of heights to climb Jacob's Ladder and complete the Leap of Faith. Tonight is Fancy Dress. Keep an eye out for more photos coming later.
Wednesday - Kayaking and Surfing
Congratulations to Robyn, Rhiannon and Millie for winning prizes in the Fancy Dress competition last night. Everyone looked fabulous in their wonderful costumes.
This morning, despite the rain again, everyone enjoyed kayaking either on the river or canal. As well as developing our paddling technique we played various games.
This afternoon, the weather improved and we all took to the surf. Many stood and caught the waves which is fantastic. A brilliant effort from everyone in the sea. A great way to end the afternoon.
Wednesday Night - Talent Show and Football Tournament
Well done to both our football teams for getting into the spirit of friendly competition. You all played very well. Take a look at some photos below.
We were also blown away by the talent on stage, not just from our children but other schools too. Well done to everyone from Fowey who entered, and especially Bex who came 1st with her rendition of Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. Take a look at the photos and video clip below.
Thursday - Caving and Mountain Biking or Dragon Boat
We have been basking in some glorious sunshine today in Bude. Our children still put in 100% effort for our last morning run of the week.
Caving this morning was an opportunity for children to overcome fears of the dark and small spaces. They did this really well, with every child going through the tunneling system.
This afternoon, two groups went mountain biking and one group dragon boat racing.
This evening, we have presentation night where everyone will receive their certificate of achievement as well as finding out who will be our Joker, Bottle and Superstar of the week. Every child should be proud of their achievements this week. Every child has gained something from the experience and will have memories that will last. They have been a fantastic group of children to spend a week on activities with. They have also represented the school so well with their manners and empathy for one another.
Thursday night - Presentation Night
Oh what a night! Dance moves a plenty, and a good time had by all.
Congratulations to all our children and our Joker, Bottle and Superstar of the week. Not only that but with 1035 points, Tutor Group D from Fowey Primary School were awarded Superteam of the Week. A huge achievement for the children and everyone at Fowey. What a way to end a fantastic week. A special thanks to all the staff, especially our tutors Beth, Henry and Mair and our staff from Fowey.
Friday - Team Trail and Body Boarding
Our last day! Well done to everyone on the team trail - you all worked hard together and persevered. To end our Bude experience, we all took to the sea for some body boarding. It was a great way to end a fantastic week at Bude. The sun even made an appearance. Thank you to everyone at Adventure International, Bude for such a brilliant week.
